Daniel P. McGahn has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) since 2009. Mr. McGahn joined AMSC in 2006 and has served as SVP and General Manager of AMSC Superconductors, VP of Strategic Planning and Development. Mr. McGahn previously held positions at Konarka Technologies, Hyperion Catalysis, IGEN International, and Princeton Consultants. AMSC is headquartered in Devens, Massachusetts, with 714 employees. AMSC has two units: AMSC Superconductors, which combined AMSC Wires and SuperMachines (prototype electric motors and synchronous condensers), and AMSC Power Systems. In 2007 AMSC acquired Windtec Consulting to expand into the alternative energy market with wind turbine system designs and electrical systems. Customers in the Asia/Pacific region account for about three-quarters of sales.
